Sheila Newberry wrote family sagas. Her stories are mainly about rural life at the turn of the last century, covering the First World War and the 1920s. She also wrote about World War Two and London then, and during the late Victorian era.

She has nine children and twenty-three grandchildren.

Her novels are now published by Zaffre (Bonniers).
