The daughter of a Durham miner, Annie Wilkinson now lives in Hull, where she worked as a health visitor.

Her first novel, A Sovereign for a Song, won the Romantic Novelists’ Association New Writers Award in 2003.  It has just been reissued under the title Sing Me Home.
